The 40 W solid-state Garmin GMR Fantom™ dome radars feature MotionScope™ technology and fully integrates with select Garmin chartplotters. GMR Fantom™ radars use the Doppler effect to detect and highlight moving targets. This helps you avoid potential collisions, find flocks of birds and track weather formations. Pulse Compression technology provides high resolution while maximizing energy, to enhance detection and identification of targets.
You get excellent close and long range target detection from 20 feet to 48 nautical miles, even in fog or rain. Its horizontal beamwidth provides a high resolution image and high antenna gain so it can pick out targets at a distance. The result is this radar paints a clear, concise image of the shoreline, other vessels and impending weather. Its 8-bit true color imagery also helps you discriminate large targets from small ones and enhances target separation.
Keeping the power cautious boater in mind; Garmin engineers created a setting so you can set the GMR Fantom™ Radars to 24 rpm for low power consumption. Whilst using 24 rpm saves power, there is also a 48 rpm setting which allows for faster screen update rates. Keep in mind this setting is only available for some range settings and not available in dual range or MotionScope™ mode.
The GMR Fantom™ Radar has two different options available:
- 18″ Radome with 5.2° Beamwidth; and
- 24″ Radome with 3.7° Beamwidth.
All Garmin radars are designed to be easy to install and easy to use. There are no complex user settings to adjust; just install your GMR Fantom™ Radar and start using it. Better yet why not contact us at QME to install it for you correctly, the first time.
